Robots and Legos
We had our first meeting of our official FLL lego league team today. We had 9 kids who came in and quietly sat around the table to listen as Brad explained a little bit about the challenge. Then we broke out the robot and the legos and the excitement began. They broke up into teams and worked on learning to program the robot and build the models needed for the missions. I didn't think we were going to be able to get the kids to leave, and I would have enjoyed staying with them for a couple more hours, but life goes on, Brad had to get back to work and I, of course, had little kids at home waiting for me.
To get an idea of what we are doing, check out this video.

Shoot the Monkey
My kids love Science Jim. He teaches online science classes for homeschoolers. Today they were talking about Newton's Laws of Gravity and he shared this video with the kids.

New School Year
We are 2 days into our new school year and it is going great! I didn't use the blog much last year, as is very evident, but I am really hoping to use it more this year. The kids were exploring it again today, as I cracked down on computer use - no free time on the computer, just educational time. I know, I'm so mean, but it will be good for all of us. I'll make my goal for tomorrow to find something exciting to post on here for the the kids to check out. Oh wait, I'll go grab a Mormon Message right now.

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time!
My girls have big goals. 4oo and 1000 boxes of cookies adds up to a lot of cookies and a lot of work. But check out what a cookie can do . . .
